The Phendulani Quiz, besides being fun, is challenging, exciting and educational. Aiming to increase literary knowledge and appreciation, comprehension skills and critical thinking and gives learners an incentive to open a book and read.

The event has proved to be a dynamic and engaging way of promoting literacy in under resourced South African primary schools.
